In April of 2025 near the capitol city of Scotland, Edinburgh, J. Kevin Logan was affirmed by a near unanimous vote of the assembled members of Clan Logan as their choice for Commander of the Name Logan. These 65 members came from countries around the globe, including Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America for an historic convention of the global Family Logan. The Lord Lyon King of Arms’ representative, the Bute Pursuivant in Ordinary, Colin C. Russel Esq, CStJ. KLJ-J CMLJ. BSc (Hons), supervised the convention to assure that it was carried out in a free, open, and fair manner.

On 18 December 2025, the Lord Lyon King of Arms announced that they were satisfied with the nomination of the assembled members of the Family Logan and granted Kevin a Commission as Commander of the Family Logan.

Kevin Logan is currently serving as the President of Clan Logan Society International. In 2016, he joined the Society as so many do, by volunteering to host a Clan Logan hospitality tent at his local Highland Festival & Games. Kevin has held several positions with the Society since that time, from webmaster to newsletter editor. Kevin established consistent branding across all of the Society’s media, from website, to Facebook, to printed newsletter. In 2018, James C. Logan appointed, and the Board confirmed, Kevin as the Vice President of the Society. James and Kevin worked together to update and streamline the Society’s Bylaws, establish global Zoom conferences, and rapidly grow the Society’s membership. In 2022, Kevin was confirmed by the Board as the third President of the Society after James retired. He continues to host Clan Logan hospitality tents at many Highland Festivals and Games.

Kevin was born and educated in rural Missouri, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri in 1993. He pursued a successful career in the automotive industry working as a controls and systems expert for many of the major manufacturers, including General Motors, Ford, and Toyota. Kevin was a pioneer in the electrification of the modern consumer vehicle, earning nine patents for his regenerative braking algorithms.
Kevin enjoys studying Scottish culture and history, especially heraldry. He is building a library of books and other items that align with these interests. His favorite book in the library at this point is his 1959 copy of Simple Heraldry Cheerfully Illustrated by Iain Moncreiffe and Don Pottinger. This book and the urgings of his good friend, An Darach McEwen of Clan MacEwen, led Kevin to recently apply for a grant of arms from the Lord Lyon King of Arms.
Although he has enjoyed his work and hobbies a great deal, Kevin’s passion has always been for his family. He is the proud father to five children, a stepdaughter, and four grandchildren. Kevin lives with his wife Lisa in rural Michigan.
